"Thank you for everything.  I never thought I would be able to run over 3 miles nonstop.  I would definitely recommend you as a coach." -Stephen Ferguson (2022)

UPDATE: 2023

Wow, this post has been long overdue. The truth is, I’ve just been so busy with my career and family that I let it fall to the wayside. To begin, I’ll fill you in on my story first. Forgive any grammar and paragraph structure issues in advance lol. My name is Steve, I grew up in Jersey and never wanted to leave (since changed). I wanted to be a cop for as long as I can remember but let life get in the way after high school. Did the whole 2-3 jobs 18-20 hour days for years and just felt lost. One day I just had enough. I told myself I was going to finally chase the career path that I always wanted. I trained at the gym, went back to college, and just emersed myself in attaining the career I’ve always wanted. Well let me tell ya… It was not easy for me. Most of the places I applied wouldn’t take my application without a degree. To cut things shorter, I graduated college with a 3.9 GPA and hit the ground running. At this point I was 33 years old. I NJ the cutoff for those entering law enforcement without a waiver or prior experience is 35 years old. One day I saw that a local department near home was hiring and bam… submitted my app. I waited and took the written test. Passed it. A few months goes by before the physical fitness. Passed that. Then a few more months goes by and I’m now 34 and optimistic. WELLLL, I got that call!! The department calls and tells me I have a conditional offer pending I pass the lengthy background process! I am overjoyed! THEN Covid-19 hits the country, and the department calls and says we must postpone the hiring process until this new virus thing is handled. Like all Americans, I’m like sure, a few weeks isn’t too bad. No problem! Well, we all know how that turned out. Six months goes by, and I become anxious. Finally, my background investigator calls me and says, “Well Steve, are you finally ready to begin?” I’m like heck yeah Sir! Everything is going great now. a month passes and the detective calls to tell me he’s wrapping up and its looking good. Well, that was short-lived. He calls me back a day after he says that I passed, and I can hear the tone of his voice isn’t good. He’s like “Steve when did you turn 35?” I’m like, “3 weeks ago, lol you know that.” He then tells me my worst fear. The department was set to go ahead but they were told to cease due to the pension requirements of the state. My world was crushed! After a lengthy battle with the state and getting representatives involved… NADA. They all confirmed my fears. I was too old… WELL I sunk hard. Stacked on the weight. Took a promotion at a job I hated and just about settled. 2 years goes by… Out of nowhere I see a post online about an out of state agency hiring. No age requirements. I go through the process all over again. Exam, Fitness, board interview, borough interview, polygraph, background. EVERYTHING. A year goes by and BOOM! I GOT IT! I’m told I’m to start academy in 4 months. AWESOME! Then I get the entry fitness exam requirements for the academy in the mail. I sink into my seat and say to myself “oh man”. These times are half of what the department exam was, and the amounts of reps are twice that as well! At this point, I’m 37 and way out of shape. And I always sucked at running even before this. If I don’t pass this fitness test, I don’t get into academy, and I lose the job offer. Here is where Theodore enters. (I know… you’re like finally I see where he’s going with this!) After posting on a local community Facebook page asking for running coaches, Theodore responds that he offers coaching. I tell him the requirements via a phone call about goals. He then tells me we have plenty of time. I think to myself he is crazy but okay I’ll try it. That same night he emails me a personal plan catered to my goals. I was wowed! I am to begin immediately. We meet up at a local park and begin. Oh man when I say how out of shape I was. It is an understatement. We run for what seemed like forever. I finish my run with him, and he begins to go over my “Homework”. Lol get new shoes! DONE. Then what? Well, I didn’t really know what to expect going forward other than to follow his plan. He gives me my milage, paces, and amount of runs per week, as well as exercises for runners. I stay the course and keep showing up to out meets. Theodore is extremely dedicated! He checked in with me just about daily and went over upcoming sessions. We met about twice a week in between my planned solo runs. I tell ya, I did not think I was getting anywhere! Lol. I kept telling him I’m not getting faster or increasing my endurance. Theodore kept up with my whining through the first few months. Then the preliminary tests came. I dreaded those days coming up to them. Theodore would tell me ahead and I would crumble internally. WELL, I was wrong. Each time, I was getting faster and going longer. I could not believe it was paying off. Theodore kept pushing me beyond what I thought I could until the day for my academy pretest came. I ran incredible numbers on my 300 and my 1.5 mile. I placed in the age group of the low twenties! I text him to inform him of my outcome and just as expected, I got an uplifting response back from him because that’s who he is. Theodore will guide you every step of the way. He won’t just stand there and watch you from the sidelines during sessions. He is right there running with you. I can’t recommend him enough. I owe my career to him. He literally helped make my dream come true. It has been a year and a half now. Gladly, I’m out of my 7.5-month academy and on the job. I can’t thank Theodore enough! If you are looking for a coach that will take you to the next level, he is your guy!

"The bottom 3 is progress I’m making with coach's program which is modified to my own needs. Wow right!

Now I’m going to Very Highly recommend his program. And my results are definitely going to vary highly from yours. I managed this progress with a sprained elbow (lateral epicondylitis) from fishing, 17 herniated discs, and a “healed” neck fracture which has permanent damage, and being 45 years old!! So, No Excuses!!

He modifies Your program to fit Your needs, to get Your results, it’s All About You!!" -Morgan Gotti (2022)

"I was a runner and a manager for SCTS cross country team.  Theodore Dembowski was my coach and he was by far one of my biggest influences to keep running and to keep going to school.  He made it easy to want to run 20 miles instead of completely dreading it.  Since I graduated 4 years ago I have continued to run and use the running techniques that he had trained me in the 3 years I ran for his team." - Bailey Kervatt

"Ted was my coach when I first started cross country as a high school freshman.  Over the 4 years he encouraged me, motivated me, and properly trained me to remain injury free and to steadily improve my skills.  My confidence level grew because of his calm and patient demeanor.  He deserves the credit for instilling in me a love for running that I am still pursuing  today." -Emily Takesh
